It wasn't like Steve didn't get a certain enjoyment out of poking at Tony's things; now that the animosity was gone from their relationship it was just a bit of teasing between friends when he (deliberately) tried to break something. If it was something to get Bucky to interact with someone/thing that wasn't him, even better. All in all, he considered the toaster at the Tower to be a sign of Tony being relatively restrained when the man inevitably tried to 'improve' it. "Think of it as friendship building."
