He could see that Bucky was changing, moving towards something more than what HYDRA ever planned for their asset. (Just thinking that HYDRA would think they could use people as a soulless object made Steve's blood boil.) Or perhaps it was moving back, back into what Bucky was before. But not entirely the same, or even close to it, Steve knew. He's long known that it wasn't possible, just like it wasn't possible for him to go back to the Steve before the serum. That was alright too. As long as Bucky was happy with who he was, so was he.

Steve couldn't help but laugh again at the look on Bucky's face as the feather floated from his face over to Bucky's only to get stuck in Bucky's hair and the laugh turned into a moan as Bucky's mouth pressed against his. As they kissed Steve slide his hands up against Bucky's spine until he reached shoulders to continue with one hand up into the mess of wild hair at the back of Bucky's head. When they broke for air Steve kisses Bucky's cheekbones, nose and his forehead, smiling a bit dopily at his friend.
