Steve was more used to driving on his bike than in a proper car. He really did prefer feeling the wind in his face and going light and fast. The car was more secure though and he didn't think Bucky would enjoy long rides in a sidecar or even behind him on a motorbike. He didn't even see the sidearm Bucky snuck into the globebox though he was aware Bucky kept many weapons on himself. After the last day or so in HYDRA's care, he was inclined towards safety first. At least for the next week or so if it remained HYDRA-free.

Unsaid was the offer to turn the car around and head towards California instead of their planned route to go east.
